I have a a BCD996T digital scanner that I'm programming and I have some questions regarding the type of trunking system that CT state police uses. According to radioreference.com it states that the system type for CT state police is Motorola Type II (Apco25) yet when I program that system with all frequencies and talk group frequencies, I don't get any signals. I ran this situation by Lentini's and they informed me that I should use trunking system Motorola type I. Before I reprogram this extensive list of frequencies I need to know if this trunking system type will work. Also, if I program Motorola type I, do I use standard 800 MHZ or Slither 800MHZ? Why is radioreference.com giving incorrect information?

CSP uses a Motorola Type II system. Use standard 800 Mhz, not splinter. I use multi site trunking in my 996T and it works fine. Are you programming by hand or using software?

The RR data base is accurate and up to date, Lentini doesn't know what they are talking about. There are NO Type I digital trunked systems.

I can't imagine anyone at Lentini's that would have said Type I.
The database is accurate on all the freqs and 95% of the talkgroups that are listed. (for now).

when was the last time a Type I system was built?....New Britian is the only town left that i know that uses a Type I system and they have really crappy reception even on the newington/NB border....but yes...CSP is a Type II P25 9600 system.....are they getting hit with the rebanding?....

CSP is not 9600 baud, they are a Motorola Type II 3600 baud Astro digital trunked system.
For those who don't know, 9600 or 3600 baud refers to the speed of the control channel.
CSP (and others) will likely not move to 700 but expand to have both. As far as the rebanding, yes they will be affected. There is likely to be significant changes in the entire system.

sorry about the 9600....i thought they were....but i heard from a Uconn / Storrs Cop that they are gonna be moving over to the system sometime in 08'
but old lyme PD operates off the system and an officer there said it's crap...maybe it's just preference?....

i heard them two days or so ago , testing portables that were ecrypted , they were operating in the clear , but after giving the teplates , and ids , the person would come on and repeat the template and id and then added , portable encrypted , which i found facinating....almost sounded as there going or getting ready for full time encryption, i hope not , but who knows what the future holds !

i belive that CSP does have Encryption Availble to them, i forget for what, but if you look at the RR database, it's listed I THINK with what talk groups are using encryption...
