How does this hand held perform around cell sites? Do they wipe out 800MHz reception or do they maintain the trunk system? Some Unidens I have owned, like 245, 296, seem do do OK in most cases, of course some NEXTHELL sites can be overwhelming. The 396 does quite well. Curious about the Pro 96 ability to handle "crud." Honest, first hand experiences, please!
Thanx,
BG..

Cell Towers

I used to work within no more that 50 ft of a cell tower with no adverse affects. Although I don’t believe either of the two towers supported Nextel. Sometimes when I conventionally scanned the 800 MHz band around the towers I would get some analog "bleeding" (i.e. phone conversations), but now that all is digital I no longer catch any cell bleeding or voice traffic.

I have had a lot of problems with de-sensing when near a NEXTEL or Southern LINC
tower (both iDEN systems). Using the attenuator and the RS "stubby" helps.
