I have an old Curtis RCD-843 AM/FM, CD radio with a single white wire for the FM antenna. The reception is not the best, in fact it is horrible. I want to use it in my basement sewing room. Is it possible to change or add to the wire antenna for better reception? I did take the cover off and can see where it is attached. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I've done it before with some older electronics, where the white wire is soldered into the circuit board, take it out and solder a small piece of co-ax and the shield to ground in place of the white wire. Get an F connector female that mounts to a cover, solder the center wire to the center of the connector and solder the shield to the outside. Glue or screw mount the female connector to the cover. Now you can connect an F connector to a 75 Ohm antenna wire and run it up out of your basement to an FM antenna.
