When I complete a data base search my expected system isn't coming up. Any tips on this. Used Zip Code and the later changed city name as well. Systems around it come up but not expected one.

I figured it out. Added the control channel in the frequency menu under config and picked right up came to life. But I do have a system that is not in the database.

I had the same issue when I first got my P25RX and went to find my local system in the DB. I inquired about it and was told that the DB hasn’t been updated for more than a year and it wasn’t perfect, but, like you, I just added my local system’s control channel and was on my way of monitoring the system.

I certainly agree that the DB needs a refresh at some point but due to the manufacturer’s limited resources and time constraints, I believe the priority has been focused on manufacturing more P25RX units and building and improving the firmware for these units to improve the feature set and scanning.

I hope you enjoy your P25RX! These little units are pretty amazing for what they are.

Some systems are not in the FCC database. I will look into what might be done in order to improve this aspect of the software.

I'm working on updating the dbase file. I have slow internet here, so it may not be done today.

I Appreciate it wish i knew more coding and everything else to help out.

I'd bet everyone would agree with PCMAN67 and say to concentrate efforts on building new and improving the software.

Cant beat the little device. Tinkering with it at two different system sites I monitor and been working great.

It doesn't take much effort to update it. Just takes some time and disk space... It has almost been a year now since it was created. It is time to update it.

Can I added TGs manually if I know them
Yes. You have to enter something in each field on one of the blank record lines, then press "Write Talkgroups". Also take a look at the "tips and tricks" part of the web site to see how you can import the dsd formatted talk group files available to subscribers here on RR. It will save you a lot of typing.

The BTConfig software has been updated to 2021-03-31_1544. The FCC frequency database is now up-to-date. This is the only thing that was changed in this release. The firmware version remains 2021-03-25_0703.

Do you need to have the P25RX connected to the PC to do this or can you work on your talk groups "offline" for later loading to the receiver? Admission of guilt- I'm checking out the software prior to commiting to purchase.
The DB search didn't find the Solano County CA system, so I tried the RR import per the Tips and Tricks. The "Documents/p25rx folder didn't exist so I created it, but the Import CSV button doesn't find it.

The "import csv" function is for importing talk groups. Try renaming the file to lower-case ".dsd" extension or change "Files Of Type" to "all files".

As for the frequency search, some systems are state managed and not in the FCC database. This could be why your system is missing?

I see that Solano county is is the database. I'm not sure why it doesn't come up. What zip code or city should I search on?

Was looking for the Solano County Regional Communications System. The RR database lists the location as Vacaville (95687 & 95688). Vacaville was the seed for this system and the cities of Fairfield 94534 and Suisun City 94585.

The answers here are not show stoppers- when the tax refund arrives I'm planing on being on your waiting list. Quite impressed with what I see and your respose to users. In the mean time, just checking out the function of the computers here- a middle grade WIN 10 machine and an ancient mac laptop which both installed & loaded java & the BT software with no issues.

Please give 2021-04-01_2008 a try. (testing version). When searching, disable the "Trunked only" check and enable the "Duplicate Frequencies" option. With these options, Solano county shows up. See attached.

I don't have a RR subscription so the way I did it was to export the default single record TG to csv from BTCconfig which gave me the format. Then on the RR screen highlight and copy and paste the records from the RR system. You have to move copy paste and delete a couple columns to put it in the correct columns format then copy the enable flag (0 or 1), priority, the WACN and SYSID to all the row records, even different systems can be put in the same csv file. I have 4 files depending on what I want to listen to. then import the csv into BTC. it took less then 5 minutes.

edit: updated version
Those Solano County frequencies from the FCC data base are out of date. The county moved to 700Mhz in January this year. I don't know much about searching the FCC site or how often it is updated. I wonder if an update delay is cause for some of the questions that come up. The RR users had the new system well sorted out in a matter of days- quite impressive.

ps- I put myself on the waiting list today! JS
