When will we see a scanner that will allow us to set, search, and decode NACS on non-trunked P25 channels. I love the 396 and 998 but will not buy another scanner until I can set up NACS for channels the same way we can set PL/DPL on analog channels. Would Uniden be able to add this capability with a firmware update?

Thanks,
Russell

I think it would take more than a firmware upgrade to decode and display NAC codes.
A service monitor is used in the feild for this and is a costly peice of equipment.

Not saying it can't be done, but most likely not in the current line of digital scanners.

There is already software that will do it. Check the other threads in this forum, or search the RR Wiki. I don't think adding the capability to a scanner is going to be as costly as obtaining a service monitor.

Its just some bits in the frame.

All it will take is the manufacturers deciding it is a feature that is worth the software development time.

Interesting, I had no idea UniTrunker would decode them, but I don't see anything for conventional P25. Is there a seperate program for that?

Just found it as you posted... No Wiki information yet. Found it after a search and read.

So maybe if enough people brought NAC up with UPMan it could show up in the next Uniden DigiTracker?
