What frequency(ies) does delaware co., pa use for dispatch of fire and EMS. I have 508.2375 MHz and 46.48 Mhz programmed in my scanner. I was in woodbury, nj (just on the other side of the river) and did not hear a peep out of either frequency. Are these just weak stations? Or is there another dispatch frequency?

To the best of my knowledge, 508.2375 has never been used for voice dispatch by Delaware County FireBoard. 46.48, OTOH, has a pretty weak signal which I can only sporadically pick up in West Chester; there are times I can barely pick it up *within* Delaware County.

I will occasionally get the EMS channels and the DelCo county-wide freqs (ie. Command) along with Sectors 1 and 2 PD from West Chester, but that's not saying a heck of a lot about DelCo's system, IMHO.

I wouldn't use the fact that you cannot hear Delco well in West Chester as an indicator that the system is in poor condition. Since last year, I have actually been able to hear more of the police sectors from my area that I was previously able to hear. Prior to last year, I was never able to pick up Sector-5 up in Montco; now I can often hear it loud and clear on a handheld scanner. For the most part, the coverage is good where it needs to be...in Delco.

At one point a year or two ago, the 46.480 dispatches were being simulcast on one of the 500MHz frequencies. Off the top of my head, I don't recall which UHF it was, but that was only a short term thing.

From in and around Media, PA, for the past two weeks, 46.48 has been spewing initial bursts of control channel noise. They'll then usually chime in with the familiar paging tones and dispatch. I installed the temp 154.205 & 154.43 mHz Delcom freqs. 154.43 pulling in the rebroadcast best. I also L/O'd 46.48 out of aggravation.

Andy, are you actually hearing anything besides the digi bursts on the VHF freq's? I don't even keep them programmed because thats all they were ever used for as far as I know(alpha paging). Have they changed things around with them? I know there has been several changes and new users/channels this year.

DELCOLHFC,

Without knowing for sure, it appears they've converted the old analog tones to digital. They are the initial bursts I'm hearing on 46.48. I have heard the old analog tones on 154.43mHz but even that seems sporadic.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Anyone else?

Delco uses 154.205 for alpha paging. The beeps and buzzes are POCSAG paging data...same as what Montco uses on 154.025.

I've never monitored 154.430 for traffic from Delco...will plug it in to see what I hear.

There are sound bites of POCSAG data here:

http://www.kb9ukd.com/digital/pocsag12.wav

Montco uses 1200 and 2400 baud transmissions.

I have trouble picking up 46.48 from home.

Ben,

That s what I hear!!! But on 46.48mHz, it's only began about two weeks ago. I remember it quite clearly.

The dispatches also sound more distant than ever! That might be the 396t and the RS 800mHz antenna.

Is there a CTCSS code for the 154.43 MHz frequency? Also, how well can it be heard in Montco, Boomeranger? I remember in December or so I used to be able to get 46.48 MHz with a good antenna. Then I stopped monitoring the system for a while. I just tried a few weeks ago to get Delaware county, and I haven't heard anything on the frequency.

I recall a CTCSS of 192.8. Haven't been into Montco lately. Here's the Fire Dispatch map. Current as of 2002.

I also see the freq. 154.28 mHz listed.

Last thing I can think of is to sweep the 46-47 mhz VHF band and see if anything "lights up?"

I was actually referring more to the 46.48 as opposed to the DelCom/Fireboard channels. The Data and EMS channels come in fine (when I'm outside my house at least). I only pointed out that there were some issues within the county when monitoring 46.48. I will, however, try Andy's suggestions re: 154.430 and see if that's better than 46.48.

Unless I'm wrong, 154.430 PL 192.8 should be the Fire/EMS dispatch for Camden County, NJ. 46.48 is the Fire/EMS voice dispatch for Delco. 154.190 is used for Upper Darby Twp. Fire dispatch, 453.225 for Marple Twp. and I think that Eddystone and Radnor also have their own dispatch channels, all which are dispatched by the county. Haverford, I think is still self-dispatched. Previously Delco used 508.2375 for simulcasting 46.48.

Rich,

I have been listening to 154.430 (192.8) all night and this is definitely Camden Co. I have heard no Delco fire dispatches all evening on 154.430 even though I've heard the police getting notified of several fire calls tonight.

You may also find occasional traffic from Salem County, NJ on the 154.430. They still use that for some of the District 1 (Riverfront) Companies.

Thanks everybody for the news on 154.43. I still have it searching for other CTCSS codes, as the freq. is listed as a Delco fire freq.

No wonder it sounded so distant! :\

Thanks and "sorry about that, Chief!"
