When programming in Sentinel, I always like to "read" the card first, just to make sure I'm starting from whatever is actually on the card. There are times that I have created favorites lists that are just not needed. Sometimes I want to completely start over, and not have a series of bogus favorites lists distracting me from the task at hand.

If I deleted a favorites list by either trying to delete favorites lists via the "Red X" button,"or using the "remove from favorites list" selection within Sentinel, and I wrote those changes to the card within Sentinel, I would read the card afterward, and the actual favorites list was always still there, fully functional.

THERE IS NO WAY TO PERMANENTLY REMOVE A FAVORITES LIST WITHIN THE SENTINEL PROGRAM!

If you want to completely and permanently delete a favorites list, get out of Sentinel, and access the "maintain favorites list" button within the radio's menu button. Delete the favorites list from the "maintain favorites list" selection on the radio itself, or the favorites list you want to delete will not be permanently deleted.

I have not seen this behavior. When you wrote to the scanner, did you check the box to "Erase Favorites Lists on Scanner"?

EDIT: I just did this on my 200 and 100 and old favorites were deleted by checking the box above.

If you select "Erase Favorites Lists" it will erase them all on the BCD536HP, perhaps that's the distinction. Maybe there is a difference with respect to this feature on the BC536HP versus the SDS100/200. It even gives you a double warning, making sure you want to do this, stating it will erase all favorites lists on the card. I just want to erase two of them, not the entire selection of favorites lists. I suppose there is always a possibility that my Sentinel program has a problem, but if so, it works perfectly in every other way. I only noticed it because after I deleted two of my favorites lists within Sentinel, using both methods within Sentinel to supposedly do so, I wrote the change to the card, rebooted the radio, and when I read the radio programming, the two favorites lists I thought I had deleted were still there. I tried running through that scenario several times, just to see if it was a fluke, but it happened every time.

But, you will only notice that the favorites lists are still there if after deleting them, you "read" the card. At least with the BCD536HP, the supposedly deleted favorites lists you thought you had deleted will all still be there, among the favorites lists you did not delete. I noticed this too when viewing the screen of the scanner, and the top heading still had the name of the two favorites lists I thought I had deleted. When I deleted the two favorite lists from the radio itself, the display of the deleted two favorites lists were gone, and no longer being scanned.

Just right click on the favorites list and select Remove from Favorites List from the dropdown menu.

They still remain on the scanner unless you manually delete them from the scanner or use the Erase all Favorite list, which I don't think is understood. It wipes out the scanner and only adds the Favorite Lists that are in the left pane of Sentinel. It reloads everything..cleans it out.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm concluding...I mean, who wants to wipe out all your work on a number of separate favorites lists if you have only a few that need to be removed? They can be individually removed within the radio itself, but not within Sentinel.

I don't have to go that far, I can remove a specific favorites list from the scanner itself...But, at least on the BCD536HP, what you are suggesting will not work. Unless I remove it within the scanner itself, it will be there forever if I try using Sentinel to erase individual favorites lists. If I "Erase Favorites Lists" I won't have any on the card.

Just humor me...try to delete a specific favorites list the way you suggest doing it, you will end up with no favorites lists on your card. I hesitate even suggesting you do so because I already know the outcome. But, try doing it with an individual favorites list, then "read" your card. But, again, I have a BCD536HP, so maybe it's different on an SDS100/200, or other models.

Download everything from your scanner into Sentinel.

Delete anything in Sentinel that you don't want in your scanner.

Write Sentinel back to the scanner after checking the "Erase Favorites Lists on Scanner" box.

That's not how it works for me. I've been using both versions of Sentinel on every SD card scanner sold by Uniden for 13 years since the first Home Patrol 1 came out, and have never seen that behavior.

I’m confused. You said you read the scanner first then edit. What’s the harm with erasing all favorites on the scanner? You’ll end up with whatever you defined in Sentinel and nothing more. It worked like this on my 436 too.

I always "read" first, then work on favorites...it's just a precautionary procedure that I believe is prudent, one that is highly recommended when dealing with micro SD cards, just to make sure that what is in the scanner, more accurately, what is on the card, is what I think should be there. I have 7 favorites lists in the scanner (on the card), and 5 of the them are fine. So, why erase all of them within Sentinel using "ERASE FAVORITES LISTS", notice it says "LISTS," and that comes with two warnings as to the consequences of doing so, then have to reprogram them all? I just erase the offending two, in this case, via the radio, and reprogram two new ones with the correct data using Sentinel. Saves time...

Notice the option "Erase Favorites Lists on Scanner". The scanner Favorites Lists are erased and nothing in Sentinel is erased so you don't have to reprogram. Just simply write to the scanner the Favorites Lists in Sentinel

When you read from your scanner into Sentinel, everything that was in the scanner is still in the scanner... it just gets copied into Sentinel. When you make changes to that download that's now in Sentinel and write back to the scanner from Sentinel without checking the "Erase Favorites Lists on Scanner", everything that's now in Sentinel will be added into your scanner along with everything that was in your scanner before you downloaded it into Sentinel.... including the favorites lists you just deleted in Sentinel that are still in the scanner.

And then the next time you download into Sentinel from the scanner, of course those favorites are going to show up again in Sentinel. That's exactly why the "Erase Favorites Lists on Scanner" option is there. Checking that box in Sentinel will clear out all favorites in the scanner and write to the scanner with your corrected favorites lists in Sentinel..... You don't need to re-program anything, the favorites lists that you want in your scanner will be put back there during the write to scanner from Sentinel process.
