"Williamsburg -- If you're wondering why that Coast Guard helicopter keeps circling over head, there is no water emergency in the downtown Williamsburg area.
The orange-and-white helicopter is part of the security force for the Democratic Caucus meeting at the Kingsmill Resort & Spa, a Coast Guard supervisor said. The caucus meeting begins today.
The path of the patroling helicopter took it over the area round the Williamsburg Transportation Center, where this afternoon at least 15 police vehicles, including Williamsburg Police, Virginia State Police and U.S. Capitol Police, were lined up outside.
Police on foot also patrolled near six blue-and-white James River Bus Lines coaches parked at the center on North Boundary Street.
Officials at the scene denied the attention had anything to do with the Democratic Caucus. They insisted that police were simply there for a "training exercise." "
end of Daily Press article.
The "group" arrived by train around 1530 hours in Williamsburg VA and were transported by bus to Kingsmill. As before, James City County PD and Williamsburg PD provided security along the route. The Virginia State Police escorted the buses to Kingmill (using 154.665 MHz). The U.S. Capital Police are providing security at the Kingsmill Conference Center and are using 168.35 MHz (no encryption). James City Fire personnel are stationed at the site and are on James City Special Events 1 (talkgroup 1267).
President Bush is scheduled to arrive on Saturday.
