Hi. i am scanning the Denton County Fire system, and i would like to hold on my town's ID. i found the information listed below, but tried it and the software would not accept the ID with 7 added.
I am trying to hold on Double Oak fire ID 8400.
i have done the man, funt, trunk and selected the Double Oak id 8400, but do not hear the tone outs.
can someone help.

Misc System Information

Denton County Fire Departments are simulcasting tone-outs through the dispatch console and out to each department's talkgroup. In order to be able to hear these tone-outs on the trunked system you need to have your status bit set to ignore. If your scanner doesn't have an option for status bit then you can manually program a talkgroup for each tone-out -- just add 7 to the talkgroup and that will give you the talkgroup you need to program for that fire department's tone out.

Which scanner are you using? On the Pro 97/164 make sure you are scanning only the Denton County system
Press PGM then TRUNK
Using the up or down arrow keys, go to the Double Oak Talk Group
Press FUNC then TRUNK.
Radio will stay on the Dougle Oak Talk Group.

Note: This will work fine till the Control Channel changes at which time the sanner will not decode the talk Group ID.

To leave a scanner on the Double Oak talk group forever. program only that talk group ID into a scan list and select only that scan list for scanning.

Useing the 163 or 164. i tried the pgm,tk, fun, then tk. it holds on Double Oak. but either DO has had no tone outs, or as you say the control channel has changed, because i have nerver received a tone out. . i'll try the DO only talk group in a bank.
thanks Doug. my wife calls you the scanner god....
