DENVER – An officer and a suspect were both injured in an incident on Monday afternoon, prompting authorities to shut down southbound Colorado Boulevard.
Denver Police say there was a fist fight between the officer and the suspect at 1285 Colorado Blvd. The officer then shot the suspect in the leg, according to police.
The suspect then tried to flee the scene, but was apprehended and taken to Denver Health Medical Center. The suspect, whose identity was not released, is listed in critical condition, but the injuries were said to be non-life-threatening.
At least eight police cars and two ambulances responded to the scene.
The officer, who was injured in the fist fight, was also transported to Denver Health. The officer's condition was not immediately known.
