DENVER – Traffic is backed up on both I-70 and I-25 after a semi carrying hundreds of bags of flour overturned on Wednesday afternoon.
The Colorado Department of Transportation says the semi overturned on the ramp from eastbound I-70 to northbound I-25. That ramp is closed.
When the semi crashed, debris rained down onto I-25 below the ramp. As a result the I-25 HOV/tolled Express Lanes are closed and three lanes of southbound I-25 near I-70 are closed.
CDOT says a wire fence was damaged during the accident and must be removed before traffic on southbound I-25 can reopen.
CDOT is diverting traffic from southbound I-25 to westbound I-70.
CDOT says the closures are expected last through the evening commute.
It is unclear what caused the crash or if there were any injuries.
