The DEP has a new repeater on the air at the 3 major shorline parks in CT Hammonasset in Madison, Rocky Neck in East Lyme, and Sherwood Island in Westport. This repeater has been in opereation since this summer can be turned on as needed by dispatch in Hartford. the Frequency is 171.575MHZ

The above PL is the right one. I know that they did test the new repeater several times during the summer and that it was turned on a few times during some emergencies at Rocky Neck.

Did you get a PL or DPL? The license wasn't effective until October 25, 2010 and has a construction deadline of 10/25/2011.
ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Conventional License - WQMQ831 - CONNECTICUT, STATE OF

It also includes a "statewide common" channel of 151.355 which is shared with the Judicial Department. Because of the shared frequency, they needed a "Letter of Concurrence" from the Judicial Dept.

The 151.355 used to be our old Sheriffs Dept. Transport truck radio frequency back in the day. I do not believe it is still in use. I will monitor it just to be sure but I don't believe it is active. I believe the trucks are on the Marcus system. The courthouse portable units are on UHF. Last I remember, the trucks had Kenwood TK-880 mobiles installed in them while the courthouse units have TK-380s.. I left in 2008 so things MIGHT have changed, but as cheap as Judicial is, I doubt it.

My guess is that they have moved away from using it, but since they still hold a license, DEP had to get the LOC.

It's about time, I used to work at Hammonassett in the early 90's and we had MT500 low-band portables and some mobiles.

We would have a student dispatcher during the summer, only on days.

Thanks Ecps. that's good info to print before it gets taken down. Since necomms/cts is rebanding and adding frequencies why not just add a few tgs for dep. They have the mobiles, might as well just hand them portables and get it over with
