At DIA there is that fire station just across the ramp from the Frontier airlines area. It might be station 31, it is where they have the hummers I think. I have always wondered what that part that looks like the normal tower was used for. It's not really high enough to see anything but maybe the west runways and taxi ways. Is it just somewhere for the fire fighters to go and watch the planes? Or does it have some higher function I am missing?

I assume you're talking about the station closest to the terminal. That was originally going to be the dispatch or an an observation point, but you really can't see much from up there, and DFD dispatches from down in the city. It was used for a while as an extra exercise room (there was an AirDyne up there.) When a chief was assigned to the airport, it was taken over as the chief's office, and it's still used as such.
ARFF 2, up north of the UAL hangar, has a tower also. Have not been up there to find out what they use that one for, but again, probably not the original intended use.

Had to leave _something_ for you guys. :)
Hell, the county line on Robertsdale is up near 71st. You know the 5 radio towers on the north side of TRACON? Draw an east-west line thru the row of 3 and that's the boundary, Denver on the north, all the way thru to Valley Head.... so you also have about 80% of the lot, too!
Denver owns the land but didn't annex, just like that situation we talked about a while back regarding Quency St on the west side of the airport. I'd only be guessing if I gave an answer!!
