NOT in Alaska, damnit!
Recalling all this from memory. Heard it while driving on DIA Ops 1: They were closing runway 26/8 for "relamping." Didn't sound like a planned operation. Wondering if either a plane or snowplow took out some lights somewhere. At one point, an electirician called Operations citing a conflict between the work he was doing and plows out near him. Saying he couldn't do his work with them around. Ops immediately ordered the plows off.

If it was planned, they sure picked a nice night for it. 3 degrees on the car thermometer down there!

Normal maintenance. The light bulbs needed to be replaced... hard to do with those huge snow blowers throwing a couple tons at you!
The edge lights are meant to break away when hit. Plows do hit them on occasion (hell, I've hit a couple) but they're easily replaced... another basic electrical maint function.
