Diamond D-130J

I recently purchaced a Diamond D-130J and have been planning to install it in the attack. However I have been playing around with it some and while on the VHF side I have been very impressed and it is ok on 800mhz I have noticed that around 460 and 490 Mhz it seems to be nearly deaf. Is this normal for this antenna or is it just because i dont have it mounted properly yet. Also I have 50ft of RG-8X coax. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Sounds typical of a discone.

Not my favorite antenna for UHF and above.

My Diamond Discone does very well in the UHF T-Band.
