Maybe its me or a rare poor antenna but this diamond is not getting the trunked NJSP tramissions. Is this a poor antenna at 800??? I have to do some checking and testing but where does this antenna shine? Ron

No, it's very unlikely to be a bad antenna. 800 doesn't do well in the mountainous terrain where you are (my aunt used to live in Sparta, and I use to camp there years ago). It's much more likely you are out of range- and by a good bit, too.

best regards..Mike

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (Windows Mobile; WCE; Opera Mobi/WMD-50433; U; en) Presto/2.4.13 Version/10.00)

It is a ham 2M/440 antenna so I would guess it does best recieving around those bands. I have two if them and they work well around those bands and not too band for ~40MHz.

Try out the RS 800MHz scanner antenna for portable and either a Wilson cellular yagi or mag mount for base or mobile use.

All my rubber duckies and the RS 800 and RS WHIP 20-066 do much better on NJSP. It seemed like many people liked this antenna for their scanners so I bought it. I will try and test it again today. Seems like it dead in the 800 area. I do get the NJSP great with my other antennas just looking for better. Ron

darticus, and others, it is not a good idea to expect an antenna to work well outside of it's designed coverage band(s). Some folks who report success using an antenna designed for VHF-HI on 800 MHz would have success using a coat hanger. If you live in an area blessed with a strong signal then you could use almost anything but if you live where the signal is down in the mud go with an antenna designed to cover the band(s) you want to hear.

I thought this was for all band coverage to 900. It does a good job out of the 800 area. I'll just have to use it on another scanner that I use in the antennas lower band coverage. Ron

It's main purpose if for Ham 2M/440 operation with an HT. I looks like it IS designed to receive more than just 2M/440, but if you have a low 800MHz signal, then you'll need to get something else, (Diamond RH77CA SRH77CA Antenna) possibly (like I said before) a RS 800MHz rubber duckie, a Wilson cellphone yagi, Wilson cellphone mobile, or a DPD antenna. If you have no signal or little signal to begin with, you may not have much luck.
