If you did go to court and fight it! I listened (TAC 2 7-F) today from about 2 PM on as units were working somewhere using a new LIDAR unit. Some of the comments made truly showed that they didn't know how to use the unit and were using it in the rain. "try turning around and face traffic, shoot it through the windshield" was one comment along with
"Somethings wrong, it won't clear the last reading" followed by " Push some buttons and see what happens" all in the company of local news (Unknown) media.

Or

Or if you got a ticket you should go to the fine office and PAY IT and take responsibility for breaking the law by speeding. Then (like you dont know it already) dont speed unless you are prepared to pay a fine. Common sense. We are all born with it and some lose it by the time they turn 5 years old.And yes I speed quite often, but I am also prepared to pay the fines I may get.

Under Oklahoma law all police officers ARE expert judge in speeds. Tpd spends time in the academy teaching this. All radar certification courses have time teaching this. Radar. lidar etc..are merely conformation to the officers observations. Even though I work a specialty unit I keep a radar in my car to stay sharp on estimating speeds. After a while you would be amazed how accurate you can be.

Most states, if not all are like this. You must first visually estimate the speed of the vehicle, THEN verify with your speed measuring device.

Years ago, I recall doing the visual estimation part of the certification process, on a road with a 55 MPH speed limit. Marked car. If you had been of mind to, you could wait until
you were pretty sure that the car in question saw you, slowed down to the speed limit, and then blurt out... 55!

Worked almost every time.
