Hello y'all

Got a question concerning P25 in Southern Oklahoma. Any idea's as to when Bryan, Carter, Marshall, Atoka and Choctaw might begin to (or will they ever) P25 Radio Communications?

The reason I ask (Well one of them) I am providing the Bryan/Durant/OHP feed for Southern Oklahoma and am about to move the whole feed to a real radio tower (Fannin County North - Ivanhoe, 400 foot tall) And if there are plans in Southern OK. to go digital I'd have to have the feed on a dedicated digital scanner. Which I won't have for the SE Oklahoma feed for a while.

Let me know what the future plans might be if any of y'all know them - Thanks.

Oh, they will because everyone is convinced that "digital is better". It's not, but that hardly matters. What you really want is a timeline before you have to buy a new scanner. :)

There are only a few P25 users on OKWIN, and of those, at least one is encrypted (EMSA). In this budgetary environment, I don't see anyone buying new radios any time soon.

That said, at some point, Motorola will convince the right people that "analog is illegal" or some other thing and the new sites going in will be P25-only.

Well, how's that for a non-answer answer? Could have just said "No idea" right up front. :D

I think it is a great non-answer answer -- just enough info to be believable with a tinge of cynicism about Motorola's sales staff approach to promulgating new radio systems with all the bells and whistles.

I actually like that answer better than if you had said, IDK. I agree with you on all of that Including the bit about Motorola. Thanks for the reply. Any chance on OHP Durant jumping on the Trunk anytime soon?
