• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

What kind of range of reception can be expected from the new GEWIN system that is being used? I'm trying to determine if I'm in a dead zone with the new GEWIN system.
Thanks.

I've been able to pick up the Cobb GEWIZ over at PDK with no problems.

Guess if you were a GATOR LOVER it would pick up better! :)

I get 2-3 bars on Cobb GEWIN in Alpharetta, and that's sitting under a Fulton County TRS / Metro GEWIN tower. I was actually able to (sort of) get Cobb GEWIN in White county, but that was at a very high elevation and I had to be on the right side of the mountain. To be fair, the design of the system is probably for something like 90-95% portable coverage within the county, so anything outside the county line is frosting on the cake.
