Digital Scanners.

Today im gona go to Radio shack and put a Digital Scanner on lay away. And then get it out next week. From all of the info I have heard. These Digital Scanners are great. I can't wait to get mine. I have been into Analog for over 20 years now and this Digital is all new to me. Allan.

RS doesn't have layaway anymore, unless it's a franchise store, which may or may not have it, but most likely not.

You may want to get a Uniden for about the same price...especially if you want to monitor Omaha/Douglas County...not sure where you live?

I should be thankful my 10 year old Pro-2040 still works perfectly with out analog system in GI. It looks like I'll have to upgrade to a trunking scanner once I start at UNL next year.

I live here in Washington county. Would it be possible to monitor the Omaha police from Blair on my Digital Scanner? When I pick up my Radio this friday. Radio shack said that they would install the Frequencys for me. Because I don't even know what Omaha and Washington county run on. Frequency wise. Allan.

Last I knew it was still simulcasted, so yes as long as you have a decent antenna and the ability to hear the control channel I don't see how you could have an issue.

They are on the same trunking system here a link if you need it. In order for you the hear Omaha you will need to program in the Douglas county site. I don't think, unless you have a good antenna, you will not be able to hear them. You can get the control channel but the signal will be too weak to decode the digital voice.

Also try programming in some of the OPPD sites. I heard some OPD and DCSO radio traffic on those sites a couple of times.

Please say you got a uniden not a ratshack.
