Yes Disney is using Mototrbo, and yes the system sucks. I believe the system is running digital at this time, as there are numerous complaints about "Dead zones" where the radio wont even work. It sounds as if nobody from radio maintenance went around and tested the new system properly. Also from my understanding [from a reliable source] there are repeaters at each resort. Standing under the antennas or going into the resorts often garbles the audio or loses signal altogether. I believe staff uses a mix of the mototrbo system and the 450Mhz frequencies posted on radio reference.

Sounds like an MSS deployment and not a Motorola direct deployment!

Any new updates to Disney's radio problems saga ? I'm using a Radioshack Pro-107, and yes it's looks kind of funky, but it programs nicely from the computer, so I'll stay with it for the time being. Anyway, getting back on topic, I have Disney's pre-Nextel trunking system programmed into the scanner, so I have to ask, is that a waste of space, or should I hang on to it until they finally resolve their issues, and there's no doubt that analogue has been scraped for digital ?

Nothing conclusive heard but I wouldn't bother holding onto it.

I appreciate the input, thanks. I'll just file it in my book of stuff since it doesn't appear to be in the radio reference databases anymore. What about the UHF stuff, is that still good ?

Sorry, I've never monitored it so I couldn't tell you.

I'd dump the old Motorola system as it's dead and gone. It's all TRBO with all the bells and whistles to block access and monitoring from the outside (RAS, Privacy, etc).

A company by name of Radio One, Inc. had their license modified to include a new tower site inside Disneyland.
Authorized emissions is for TRBO

That would seem right since they run all the U.S. parks out of Florida. They are getting back to having everything done so it will work at Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World. I do miss being able to scan the Park and know what is going on. The only thing you know now is if there is a medical aide by scanning Anaheim Fire and you hear the dispatch.

Radio One is the main contractor for both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland radio systems.
Both are MOTOTRBO Capacity Plus systems, however the Walt Disney World system is UHF (since they gave up their 800/900 licenses to NEXTEL). Though Radio One is the main contractor, there is a local company handling the all the work here at Disneyland as a sub contractor for the system.
Most Cast Members I've talked to said they like it and that the coverage has gotten better since the system went live last year.

Disneyland Mototrbo cutover

I am in the park during this posting, and yes, there is a total Mototrbo radio cutover in the park. Didn't bother bringing the scanner, but I'm noticing most standard cast members are using XPR 6550s and security guards are using XPR 7550s. The occasional manager carries a small Sl series radio faced backwards (probably so no one can see the screen. ) And lots of earpieces - on every employee. That's all.

Dear Group,

I wanted to clarify the above quote; The above information is for Walt Disney World in Florida. At Disneyland; everyone at Disneyland Resort in California is using the XPR 6580 which is the Mototrbo radio that is designed for 800/900 MHZ. I went to a training seminar at Disneyland in December 2013 i had a number of oppotunities to hear what the audio sounded like on their radios, and the cast members using the radios could barely hear what was on their radio, one opf the cast Members (Manager) actually had to use his iPhone to find out wht was going on

RE:Disneyland Radio System Post Nextel

Hello Group,

On the 2nd and 3rd of December 2014 I attended a seminar at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim,CA. I am not sure what is going on but I noticed that some of the third shift cast Members, and some cast members backstage were using motorola xts series radios. I noticed that the third shift cast members in the horticulture department were using xts5000 radios, and I noticed a cast member backstage was using a motorola xts2500 radio.

There are many scanners that can do P25. A few high-end models can do Trbo. A computer and RTL dongle will do both for cheap.
Disneyland's system is encrypted however, and cannot be monitored.
