I'm picking up some distant traffic on ILEEN today in Bloomington. It's a repeater, or at least is sounds like one due to the carrier not dropping right away. Very strong signal here from an antenna 30 ft in the air, and they are talking about a suspect crossing the Poplar Street Bridge in St Louis.

It must be either skip or possible some sort of airborne repeater. Anybody else hearing this?

ILEEN(Indiana Law Enforcement Emergency Network) 155.475 is a Mutual Aid frequency for Law Enforcement across the US. Not uncommon to Hear IL State Police putting out a dispatch for a drunk Driver and ending with ***Make you own case***.Sounds like from what kevinratcliff heard was maybe St.Louis MO PD talking with a IL. State Trooper on 155.475.The bridge he is talking about **Popular Street Bridge** in the St. Lous MO area is between the IL and MO state line..Might have been a pursuit that was going across the bridge going into IL.or from IL into St.Louis.

In IL. It is called ISPERN, IL. STATE POLICE EMERGENCY RADIO NETWORK. All ISPERN radios in IL have a Red Mobile Mike in the officers car.Last time I checked this was on all the Motorolas across the state of IL.

Tim, I believe they have did away with that, there is now an ISPERN patch on Starcom that users use on their standard Starcom 21, digital radios.

155.475 is still be used by IL.State Police. As ussword posted he is hearing Dist 12.I also used to hear Dist 10 on 42.54 and 154.695,Also used to to hear Effingham Post on 42.520.When IL developed the ISPERN system all radios across IL. had a Red Motorola mike on them. This way the officer knew that he was on the ISPERN Radio. When there was a Dist 32 Disp at ISP Terre Haute Post they used to have a monitor on the dispatch console for 42.52 for Effingham IL.State Police becuase of Effiingham being west of Terre Haute on I-70 west of the Indiana/IL state line.

ISPERN is still in use, but what I was saying is that there is no need for a special radio for ISPERN only, they have it patched from Starcom to VHF and VHF to Starcom.

Yeah D12 still uses both methods.

We understand that and IL State Police are still on 155.475Mhz, As usswood posted Dsit 12 Askium post is being heard.IL.State Police has gone to 800Mhz Starcom. The patch is used to patch 155.475 to 800Mhz so all that have Starcom can hear ISPERN radio traffic and units on 800Mhz Starcom can talk to units statewide on 155.475Mhz.

yeah...they still have way to many smaller departments that probably will never go to STARCOM because of the costs involved...ISPERN will be active well into the future in ILL!

Your right Tim, D12 has been loud and clear the last few nights with the band openings...picking em up on an HT at night! LOL

Ashkum, Illinois is Dist 21, not 12. Dist 12 is Effingham, and there is not any usage of the 42, 45 mhz channels, usually when Starcom is down they switch to VHF.

Illinois police cars dont have red mics for ISPERN. The last radios to have them were the Syntor X in the Mid 80's

When ISPERN was put together the system in The State of IL. As per the written operations manual that I have had for a long time. It does say the all Radios in the State of IL that are on the ISPERN Network will have Red Microphones. This is to cut down on confusion on the officer using the radio and he will know that he is on the ISPERN Network. This is the way it USED to be when the manual was written.

It probably was a good idea, as opposed to how it is done now, just as another radio channel. I heard Dist 11 units come across on VHF now and then, you can tell they are using starcom by the digital sound. They will be calling dispatch, or making stops etc, on ISPERN.
