Hi I have a radio shack pro-94, I live in Michigan City , IN. I am in State police district 13, I have prgrammed the correct frequencies, I can see talk groups associated with district 13, but all I hear is a carrier, no voice traffic. Is this because the pro-94 is not digital?

I am very much aware of Dist 13 ISP Lowell Post at I -65 and SR 2.You will need to buy a Uniden BC996T, BC 796D, BC 396T to hear the radio traffic.Your Pro-94 is not Digital. With everybody jumping on Safe-t it would be a great idea for you to look at the above that I have mentioned.I use the Uniden scanners both at home and on my job at work on the desk.If I can be of futher help please feel free to pm me.My door is "Allways Open"

In addition, the BC250D, BC296D, BC785D, Pro-2096 and PSR-600 will recieve SAFE-T.

However, the BC250 and the BC785 will not survive rebanding. You can still copy digital traffic, but it will not trunk track. The BC796 mobile will.

Thanks for the replys

I was afraid that was the case. Luckily in my area the City and county emergency systems are still operating on vhf high band. I am a photojournalist so Im sure in the near future I will probably have to upgrade to digital.

Yes, start saving your pennies. I almost did not buy a digital capable scanner, but I'm glad i did, especially when traveling. Even a Used Pro-96 is a good start, but a latest re-bandable one is even better.

I'm sure this is posted somewhere, so I apologize for asking. However, was there a final determination made as to if the pro-96 will work after rebanding ? And is there any information out there as to specific rebanding plans in each county ?

The jury is still out on the Pro-96. It looks like from information posted here, that MECA/UCON is going pure APCO digital with re-banded frequencies.

So as that comes on-line, perhaps a Pro-96 user can report their findings.
I've seen some new frequencies YE for Safe-T, but unsure if they have been switched anywhere in Indiana yet. But, I'm sure it's coming soon. So far in my area nothing has switched yet. I think we'll just have to keep listening and post when something begins to or does happen.

But I would opt for a newer digital scanner If I could afford it. Or else keep an eye out for used bargains.
