I've noticed over the last week that the Lawrence/Douglas Co. trunked system has dispatch patched into I-Call TAC-1 (866.5125) with a DPL tone of 306 and I believe the Sheriff secondary patched into I-Call TAC-2 (867.0125) with a DPL tone of 506.
I don't know it there are any other patches or not.
Does anybody know if this has been going on long and why???

I wonder if this is due to the upcoming change of the state's Lawrence tower (called the Kanawaka Tower by Douglas County) to the KSICS DTRS. DGCO has colocated a repeater there to simulcast the primary law dispatch channel filling in gaps in the KU/Lawrence trunking system out in the county.

Since all the repeaters at the state site share the same coax and antenna system I wouldn't be surprised if the Kanawaka repeater will go off line when the new 6 channel DTRS is installed. Then they could use their talkgroups on the Topeka TRS or switch to the new DTRS to fill in the holes.

In a connected issue- I heard today that Nextel has come to an agreement where they will replace portable and mobile 800 radios on a one for one trade in Shawnee County as part of their rebanding project. And, for about $900 per radio the agency will have the option of upgrading to a P-25 radio in the exchange- which will save them around $2000 per radio to go to DTRS.
