DOUGLAS COUNTY - A brush fire has burned about ten acres on a hillside near Sedalia.
Fire crews have responded to the fire, located about 4 miles west of Sedalia, along Highway 67, near Roxborough State Park.
According to fire information officer Andy Lyon, the fire is about 50 percent contained.
The flames are about 100 yards from a home, but the fire is burning away from the home, Lyon said.
Lyon said some horses on a neighboring ranch were evacuated as a precaution.
The fire has stretched in width to about 1000 feet and is burning in mostly scrub oak amid warm, dry conditions with erratic winds, officials said.
A single-engine air tanker is dropping retardant on the flames and 60 to 80 firefighters are on the scene.
