Continuing from @Whiskey3JMC’s “Yes, but why…”And especially on the Uniden BCD536HP scanner which has had virtually no complaints concerning a defective firmware update in recent times. If I may ask, what version firmware do you currently have loaded that you want to downgrade and to what version firmware do you want to roll back to? If you are having “funky” things happen while using your scanner, you may want to try a new microSD card before you mess with the firmware. Those cards can only withstand so many read-write cycles which is highly dependent on their quality, you know. Could that be an issue?

Yes, but even the worst ones has a lifespan of 10.000 write cycles.

Uniden scanners write to the SD card if you use the recording function or when you turn off the scanner or program it. If you where to have the recording permanently enabled it will record at a 128kb speed that equals 1MB per minute. A 32GB card will be filled after 20 days of continues recorded audio. That's one write cycle of each memory cell. You then have 10.000 more write cycles with the lowest quality SD card. That's an average of 500 years of use until a 32GB SD card goes bad due to wear. That's why they often can give life time guarantee on SD cards. But they only give warranty for the memory cells, not the controller electronics that fails the most.
