There is no new firmware and\or new version of Sentinel yet but that won't take long since the software key is already available to order. SDS200E only!!

Firmware updates never have required or involved any kind of key. Are you sure you're not talking about firmware upgrades? There is a difference.

As the subject line suggests, OP is referring to adding a new mode, dPMR to the European line of SDS200. A firmware update is required initially to get the menu option (Menu > Settings > Upgrade...[assuming Upgrade dPMR]) to show up on the scanner in order for the user to input the purchased key into the scanner to unlock the new mode

Add TETRA and sales skyrocket.
Not true. Very few TETRA networks are in place in the US in comparison to P25, DMR, etc. Most of the interest in the hobby still involves emergency services which are predominantly P25 (and analog lesser so) in the US. Unless there is nationwide movement to decrypt all encryption (snowball's chance in hell that'll ever happen) We shan't expect any "skyrocketing" scanner sales, especially with our current economic climate

the new firmware for SDS100E and SDS200E (V1.21.00) is already on.

Thanks, I upgraded the FW and installed the software key.

My AOR DV1 and SDS200E are connected to the same antenna through a coupler. My experience is that the DV1 detects much better DMR and NXDN than the SDS200 does. I have been testing dPMR for an hour now and it shouldn't be a surprise that the DV1 also is better at dPMR. The DV1 detects a crystal clear conversation, the SDS200 hears nothing. Not even shows 1 s-point at the meter. Strong signals are no problem for the SDS200.

You can only do setting on the scanner as Sentinel has no update? I can see with the V1.21.00 update that Uniden have added more decimals to the frequencies on the display, so it is no longer masking the least significant digits, or at least I do not remember seeing that many decimal zeros. They have also changed the text NXDN Area to IDAS Area.

I'll need to check what else have changed.

I also want dPMR in my SDS200.
But it probably won't be JB.
It is quite a shame that the E version of SDS scanners have some news and the US version nothing !!
Maybe kick JB in the ass and he'll wake up and start doing something !

There's a reason there are different model scanner for different areas of the world. It's called different rules for frequencies, permitted types of modulation and different markets for public service/business/etc. systems.

Just because dPMR is used in Europe doesn't mean it's popular here in the US and Canada. According to other posts, there's maybe 2 or 3 systems in North America.

And just exactly do you expect Joe to do?

Would be nice if it was offered to us here in the USA.

I am somewhat near a system, and would like for my $800 scanner to be able to pick it up, like the EU models.

Is it a hardware issue?
