Check out these FCC applications the DPS sent in, adding narrowband voice (11K0F3E) to all of their existing frequencies at Hamilton and Quad City's posts.

There appeared to be similar ones for all of the other posts but I couldn't check them because the database was too slow.

Does anyone know what kind of radios the Troopers are currently using? Last I heard most were using Motorola Spectra's, and they aren't narrowband capable.

well, they only have a little under 2 years to convert so they have to start at sometime. they can add the designator now and do the swap over once all the radios are replaced. i have several customers who have already added the emission but are months away from switching over.

I just checked the Mobile post and theirs is dated 1-11-11. Looking at the two apps above I see they are dated the same. I would think its safe to assume that all posts have apps submitted for them.

Regarding the above, what is it that I am looking at?
A breakdown of the data would be appreciated.

Ok... Will do...

Just for grins I activated the Alabama State Police system in my scanner and gave it a listen this morning. Seems that down here in Mobile the local post is not using narrow FM.

Puzzleriddle, although I can't find the post now, I believe the consensus was that those are "guard" frequencies obtained to protect all of the existing DPS freqs from bleed over. Here is the statewide license for them: FCC Callsign KA2108 Details

I wouldn't expect them to be using narrow FM before the applications even went through. Like David said it could be months before they actually switch over.

I can't find the thread/post either. However, like you said Avery93, that was the theory back when these frequencies started showing up in the FCC database. Now, they may be coming into play with 2013 ( the mandate?) bearing down on DPS.

((Perhaps I should have stayed so we would know...NOT!))

Come on Jon! You know you loved it! Enjoy your retirement. But how are we going to get passed those eagle eye security guys when we go to another military base airshow with your antenna farm on the SUV?

Have a relaxed one!

Semi-Retirement is nice even if the pay is low.

Next Mil-Base I'm on, the antennae are coming off the roof before entrance!
