Drake R8B - Smart R8 Problem

I have been using the Smart R8 (smw32-32) program on Windows XP with my R8B with no problems until recently. Since my computer was upgraded, including a clean install of Windows XP, the following problem has developed. When the radio's memory is "filled" from the program's memory list all of the frequency modes default to Am/Sync. Lsb, Usb or any of the other modes are always changed to Am/Sync after the upload. I tried "filling" the radio from a different computer with the same results. Also, disconnected my security software, but had the same results. Any suggestion or help will be appreciated. TIA

For those of you not aware - Smart R8 was a program put out by my old friend Mark Fine of Virginia. He decided some years ago to leave the hobby, so I kinda doubt there's any support out there anymore.

It might be time to consider some options There still are a few out there for the Drake R8B - Ergo, RxPlus, Shortwave Log, Scan Manager (might support it via the R8A settings). Those programs are linked from here;
