Huge list of new TFRs issued in response to drone sightings across NJ, all say "No UAS operations are authorized in the areas covered by this NOTAM (except as described)". If the drones are from the Gov't they are exempt, if they are space aliens or foreign actors do you really think they'll pay attention to the TFR?

I guess it just gives them an excuse to take down anything in the air?

But not Ocean county where the clusters were spotted?
The epicenter of this whole thing?
Interesting!

Maybe the FAA needs to crack down and require all drones capable of 500+ feet altitude to use ADS-B, and start treating them like guns. Tie the drone registration to a drivers license.
Great idea! I propose the following:
Ban all drones that have more than 10 battery cells or the capability to go beyond 10 cells with a large capacity battery magazine.
Ban drone flashing light hiders.
Drone sound silencers are obviously banned.
Ban drone hand grips "pistol grips"
Ban propellers shorter than 16" except for indoor models.
Adopt a feature list where some banned items may be allowed but a combination of features may be banned. Each feature will be given a % number for calculating which features may be combined.
Favor will be given to wood grain drones where black or grey phosphate drones will be frowned upon. Checkering or engraving will be given favor.
Night vision devices will be banned for night flying but can be used during the day for practice.
All drones will be licensed and registered with a new Govt agency created to track and monitor them. There will be severe penalties if caught with an unlicensed drone.
No concealed drone operation permits will be issued at this time.
This list will grow.

Consider the source...

LI cops can shoot down drones as new high-tech command center unveiled: ‘We don’t want to wait’

Finally, someone taking the initiative instead of the balloon going all the way across the country, then shooting it down. SMH.

The balloon shoot down was a fiasco hitting the package with an exploding missile and destroying much of it. They could have fired a few rounds at the actual balloon to have it slowly descend saving it for evidence.

Agreed, and they should have done it very close to the Canadian border right after it crossed. Public Safety excuse was BS, there were safe areas it could have been done.

A lot more to that story as I believe there is to this story.

Agreed, I've always suspected a conspiracy the second it crossed our border and they did nothing about it. It got even better after they shot it down, nothing more ever came of it. It was quietly swept under the rug.
