DSD / Mototrbo

Hi,

I am new to digital decoding and just installed the DSD software on my Ubuntu computer. Everything seems like it is working and I can clearly decode P25 communications. The problem I have is I can't seem to decode mototrbo or D-Star systems with my outside (or inside) antenna system. I seem to get a good, strong signal, but can't figure out how to decode other digital systems.

Otherwise, I am really jazzed about decoding P25 systems and that part works well. I am using the latest decoding software versions and Ubuntu 10.04.

It's also possible the TRBO system you are trying to monitor is using privacy.

What is DSD displaying?

Common problems: sound card alreday in use, poor signal strength, signal is inverted (you'll get machine gunning audio), or the signal might just be carrying data with no voice to decode.

Hi,

I just get a lot of errors on the screen. It sometimes sounds like it is almost decoding voice, but it never does. I have tried inverting the data stream with no luck.

Anyway, I will keep plugging away. I am really happy about the superb P25 decoding. Sounds pretty good.

Have you tried running DMRDecode against it? If encrypted it should show that privacy is enabled.

Without seeing what your decodes look like my bet would be poor signal strength.....I often find you really need to be on top of the signal to get good solid decodes. How far away are you? Do you get the same results with the attenuator switched in?

dsd and pro 197

i have downloaded dsd for windows now i don't know if i can use the jack on the pro 197 or do i need to take it apart and solder on the board. any help on this would be appreciated. i am brand new to dsd.
ada pd in oklahoma is running mototrbo. and i would like to hear them again.

You need to use a discriminator tap, so no... The headphone jack won't do the trick. I would also say the odds are quite good that your local pd will be running privacy.

I'm betting you didn't try the last download link (that says Backup Windows Binaries). Be sure to refresh the wiki page once you go to it.
