That's a form of beaconing. Once the system is live, that switch to the FCC CWID burst usually. Yes the timing changes etc. Beaconing is almost universal on systems from what I have seen. Like that NXDN system Lutheran has, the Indy site for it is still just beaconing with no cc of any kind.
This can also be used for vote scanning in conventional networked systems.

I'm relieved to see someone is watching that site. I didn't want to have to drive down there and get it.

Did you happen to check any of the site(s) frequencies for activity? Here in the Cincinnati area just about every site is now broadcasting a "test" signal on at least one frequency.

It does seem like they are moving along rather quickly, at least for now. That's a good thing in my book.
Is there any Duke to monitor in Cincinnati at this time? Either conventional or digital? I can't find anything on RR.

I've got the Northern-most sites in Ohio in the radios... Nothing new yet on the new TRS stuff... still hearing the "Test" signals, as reported earlier.

There is DMR stuff; however, all of it that I personally have picked up is all encrypted.....

Pretty much out of luck for Duke stuff to listen too!

All Duke DMR Systems I have come across are mostly if not all encrypted and use ARC4/EP Encryption. Last I heard Duke was using OpenSky is some areas, in other areas they are using Motorola Analog systems.

Duke Energy is planning this project. If they have any active P25 sites (Which I don't think they do) but if they do this project might have operations on the new TRS.

Only Duke analog I know of is the Pipeline Patrol aircraft they run from the Gulf of Mexico all the way up to the plants in NC etc... I used to monitor them weekly as they overflew what was then Texas Eastern's lines down in MS.

Duke Energy in the Cincinnati area is using a Motorola Harmony system for primary operations and DMR encrypted at the generating facilities.

I was planning to do some snooping around the area of the power line project near I-275 to see what I hear. They will be using a helicopter to pull the lines so I'm getting they will have radio communications of some kind.

As far as FLA goes, I'm pretty sure @batdude adn @bravo14 are actively on the lookout for P25 sites to come online.

wow, I missed this tag from a couple months back. From my position in Florida (central / east coast area) -- I just spooled up Unitrunker and the old 882D analog 900 system is still up and cranking away.... I copied about 6 sites this morning.

I have not seen/heard any Duke P25 (yet?) in Florida.

Test signals. Looks like they won't do section but bring the whole thing on at same time once it's all humming.

Via FCC data, these are the sites Duke is reporting as being constructed so far. I am hearing "test" signals from all of the ones in the greater Cincinnati area.

Here is an updated listing of the sites they are reporting as built so far. They also filed a 'Slow Growth Request Annual Report' with information about the status of the buildout.

New to the thread here and just wanted to re-post something from another thread at the request of the mods. Basically, I found a couple frequencies 854.5125 & 854.6125 WRHY215 & WRJI625 in Pinellas County, FL that both sound like some sorta control channel, but nothing like I've ever heard. They sound like a weak, snowy control channel, but they're strong signals. DSD+ doesn't decode anything. The strange thing is the sound of what's on the frequencies. It doesn't sound the same as any kind of control channel I've ever heard, if it even is a control channel. So I wonder if it's some weird new kind of system.

This is consistent with what I am hearing in the greater Cincinnati, Ohio area. All of the sites in my area that they have reported as built are transmitting this "test" signal on at least one frequency.
