Has anyone been hearing the Durham EMS channel being louder than the rest of the system? Every tine I hear that channel, I start thinking I am about to need to send my SDS100 back to Uniden. To have the speaker repaired.

The problem is the individual radios involved. I get the impression the radio techs don't always know what they're doing and a lot of times get the mic gain either too low or (usually) way too high. Users on the actual system don't notice because of automatic level control but on a Uniden scanner you'll notice it for sure. If it really bothers you try a Whistler because those have that feature. Of course they give up a lot of other really important things the Unidens have so it's a tradeoff. Maybe some day Uniden will release a firmware update to add automatic level control.
