EADS Receives Contract to Expand Land Mobile Radio in Cumberland County, Tennessee

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. -- EADS, a dealer in aerospace, defense and related services, has stated that through their subsidiary PlantCML they have been contracted to expand the CORP25 digital, trunked land mobile radio system in Cumberland County, Tennessee.

When asked about the situation and concerns, Chuck Sackley, vice president of operations for EADS Secure Networks North America, replied in an e-mailed statement, "There are a number of solutions — the right one for the county and the community is not to go backward to a horse and buggy (like) the old VHF network. It could be solved by a P-25 console; which is what the county should have bought two years ago when they made the upgrade."

An upgrade to a P-25 console at dispatch would be an expensive move and at the time the county did not vote to pursue that purchase.
