- STARS sites Accomack & Eastville , I get Chesapeak RT 64 and that area metro units thru these sites. How does the 3 cars or so {and the cars at the scales at the state line,} from MELFA assigned to Accomack/Northhampton Co handle the radio traffic from so far away - which doesnt impact or have anything in common with the metro units, couldnt they use there own TG
what say you

Microwave. They use Div 5 talkgroups and are dispatched from Chesapeake. I hear those Eastern Shore units down here in Suffolk on Hampton's tower. They also affiliate with towers in Northern Neck via MW.

If you run Pro96Com on either tower on ES, it'll list all neighboring towers.

The tac TG's take the place of the old c to c frequencies but those only broadcast 2 or 3 of miles. Tac's broadcast through any neighbor towers.

Oddly enough, they used to use a separate freq on the legacy system, ch.13 159.000 [192.8], I think. It was designed into the original system. But that stopped years ago. Maybe to make sure that everyone on both sides of the CBBT knew each other's status...just a guess.

Yep they use to use thier own channel 13? 9? ;anyway now with the trunk sytem and a radio that uses radio ID tags, what are the units assigned there?- not that anybody really knows, but it would be nice to screen out the other side of the bridge, its 2 hours or so along RT 13 from the bridge tolls to the MD state line, do we(they) really need comms from 2 different - nothing in common areas? just wondering?
maybe we can request they give the Shore its own TG

ES used one legacy frequency and two tac frequencies joining other parts of northern Div 5 (Hampton to Northern Neck). South-side had same two tac freqs plus it's own main freq.

With STARS, both now have 9 talkgroups for use. That is a factor of + 6 for both. North and south still have individual dispatch but each has it's own tac with STARS.
