I live in Nixa and somewhat new to the area (2 years) from Omaha Nebraska. Can someone tell me where I can find EMS dispatch? I am specifically looking for a frequency where patient info is given to the hospital emergency services such as type of injury, sickness, etc. While I lived in Omaha this info could be heard as the medics were enroute to the hospital on the P25 simulcast system. I have not heard anything on the Moswin system but perhaps I will when the Springfield area EMS goes live on Moswin unless they decide to encrypt the info.....

You won't be able to hear much as this channel operates on simplex between all 3 hospitals in Springfield. Most of the time, ambulances are typically 10 minutes or less from the hospital. This frequency is called the H.E.A.R.. on 155.3400. It should also be noted that technology has taken over and the HEAR in Springfield/Greene County is used less frequently.

With that being said, TCAD, CMH, Barry Lawrence and other out of area services are the ones usually heard on the HEAR. You might hear Mercy EMS and Cox EMS on occasion if they are really close to the hospital.

I read your post again and I think I misunderstood what you are looking for. If you're looking for EMS Dispatch, you will be able to hear Mercy EMS Greene County/Springfield once they transition over to MOSWIN. Most (or some) of their other regions are already on MOSWIN and can be heard occasionally on Fair Grove and Springfield 700 sites, and more frequently on Hurley. Mercy EMS Greene County is currently in the clear on the Springfield/Greene County analog system. As for CoxHealth EMS, they use a single channel DMR system for each of their service areas. Cox Air Care (helo) is on MOSWIN primarily (TG: 26903). From Nixa, you should be able to listen to all 3 (Mercy EMS, Cox Christian and Cox Greene County) without any issues.

The frequency I mentioned prior is just for ambulance to hospital patient reports and does not include any dispatching.

Thanks for the reply...Patient report on Simplex 155.34 is what I was looking for. Unfortunately, it's hit and miss depending on where they are located when giving a patient report. While I lived in Omaha I got spoiled by being able to hear the report such as code and type of injury from auto accidents, although it was heard on the Orion P25 system. Can only hope they transition over to Moswin without encryption......

Thanks again

I doubt you'll hear much on MOSWIN with patient reports. Most agencies except KCFD and surrounding agencies and Buchanan County EMS use their radio systems for patient reports. Most agencies use cell phones since it's more secure and can relay more sensitive patient information to the hospital.

155.340 will most likely be the main patient report channel outside of KC and STL. As far as hospitals in southern Missouri switching to MOSWIN for patient reports…highly doubt it. Aside from mercy and maybe some cox units. A lot of privately owned ambulance services or smaller hospitals that own ambulances don’t have MOSWIN capability and likely can’t afford it either.

In addition, the stuff switching from the old Springfield/Greene (CU TRS) analog system to MOSWIN Greene 800 simulcast will likely only be heard on the 800MHz site(s) from what I understand from a MOSWIN tech.

Yes that how it is in pretty much all of southern Missouri Very much doubt it will ever be on a system such as MOSWIN.
It is my understanding that CoxHealth and Mercy hospitals have the capability of using MOSWIN for MCI type events and the like, but not for day to day operations like patient reports.

Mercy EMS is one of the agencies that will switch over from the M36 to MOSWIN. CoxHealth EMS in Greene County will have the capability to utilize MOSWIN for interoperability but will remain a part time or as needed user.

Most (not all) patient reports are delivered to the hospital by means of cellular technology as opposed to two way radio communications.

Thanks foe the information. I’m very familiar with the change over. I know when in Springfield mercy and cox are both very active on V MED 28 with their own units. And of course that is primary usage when transporting to the bolivar hospital (when they actually answer the radio). Mercy and cox (and maybe TCAD) are about the only ambulance services that could easily do MOSWIN if the Springfield hospitals wanted to switch and use an encrypted channel. For radio comms to hospital (when used) don’t see it happening.

Bolivar is one of the few hospitals (in southern Missouri) that uses an encrypted channel to do patient reports (however only CMH ambulances have access to that channel and it’s on DMR).

Why would they use an encrypted channel if they did go with Moswin?
