I am looking into getting an SDS100. I have a local system with about 95% encrypted traffic. What I would like to know is, does the SDS100 have the option to ignore encryption when detected and keep scanning? I have a TRX-1 and It will silence, play the encryption and or a busy tone if detected but remains on the talk group instead of scanning on.

What I typically see is it may stay on the TG for a fraction of a second then continue scanning. The exception being P25 Phase 2 TDMA, it's hit or miss whether it will skip or play the gibberish.

I have the base version. The SDS 200.

It skips encryption and I don't hear the noise.

No but you can choose not to program known ENC TGs into a FL, be sure to disable ID Search if enabled as well (this is normally disabled by default) so they don't appear anyway. Proscan has a "Don't import encrypted channels" checkbox when you utilize its Radioreference import function but the TGs need to be listed as such in the DB. Only thing is you need to be an RR premium subscriber to utilize the aforementioned Proscan/RR import function

Are you looking to only listen to this one system? If so, just pickup an rtl sdr for like 40 bucks on amazon(make sure you get the real ones from rtl blog).

No , I listen to a multitude and mix of systems. I prefer to use a scanner and not be tethered to a computer.
