Facebook "Like" link

Tonight I've noticed while reading threads that the "Like" link for Facebook is "bobbing" up and down. Not only that, the status bar on IE 8 is flashing between "Done" and "waiting for.." while the like icon is bopping around.

It's one of those distractions that you pick up with your peripheral vision.

Does anybody know why everybody and every company wants to be "liked" on Facebook? What happens when everybody and everything "likes" everybody and everything else? Will Facebook blow up? Will Master Control reveal itself? Just curious.

Wishful thinking.

I hate the whole concept and cringe when I see any reference to it.

I have it (and the Twits) blocked at several levels of security in my systems.
