Hi,

After having the question last night, I started wondering.

How does Radio Reference and everyone else export their ARTCC and all other files in the 56 day FADDS subscription? I want to try to get it into Excel, but never could figure it out. Currently, I just use Notepad and turn off worwrap, works fine, but not in a usable way.

I've been using Excel too long...

Paste Special won't work, you'll have to use the M$ Excel Text Import Wizard.

1) Ctrl + A in notepad to select all data.
2) Ctrl + C to copy all data.
3) Ctrl + V in Excel to paste all data.
4) Don't panic, we're fixing to delimit the data to get it into multiple cells.
5) While everything is still highlighted in Excel, look for the little clip-board icon in the bottom right.
6) Click said icon, and then click "Use Text Import Wizard"
7) The options should be defaulted, but just in case:
8) Make sure delimited is selected.
9) Start at row 1
10) File origin is Windows (ANSI)
11) Next.
12) Space should be the only selected delimiter.
13) Check by "Treat consecutive delimiters as one.
14) Next.
15) Just leave all data that you transfer as a text.

There ya go, everything should have it's own little home in it's own cell, now you can manipulate it and sort it how you please.

We use a custom import routine the imports the data directly into our database...

it is pretty easy to do so.. each line is properly delimited and has a fixed width.
