I've read quite a bit about the 800Mhz rebanding. My question is regarding Fairfax County. Most of what I monitor falls in the areas affected by the rebanding. Has the rebanding been done in Fairfax County? Does anyone have any information on the rebanding specifically relating to Fairfax County? Your help is appreciated!

I am monitoring Fairfax County Services frequencies and talkgroups. I am looking at buying a Pro-97. I read on RS's site that the Pro-97 doesn't support the rebanding. Would anyone recommend that scanner for this purpose? My only concern with that scanner is the rebanding.

Fairfax's system is digital. That should worry you more than rebanding, since the 97 is analog only.

The trunked system I am following is "Fairfax County Services", which is an analog trunk system. This is why I am considering adding a Pro-97 to join my Pro-433 and 528. In the future I'll consider a Pro-96 or 2096 for monitoring fire/rescue and other agencies running the digital system.

So given the feedback I've received thus far, I assume that a Pro-97 would work in this area, despite the rebanding?

Well in that case, you're still out of luck. The entire "services" system operates on frequencies above 854mhz, and therefore will be rebanded. The public safety system only needs to change its NPSPAC channels.

Has Fairfax public safety been rebanded yet? I programmed my scanners with the freqs in the Radio Reference database last Spring, but I've noticed a lot less activity from Fairfax lately, so I wonder if something has changed. Thanks in advance for a comment by anyone who knows.

Paris, I would verify your talkgroups. The frequencies have not changed yet.
