I ordered and received a Diamond RH77CA from HRO a few months ago. I was looking at the packaging today, and noticed that it said "...Bands' Receiving antanna For Handheld Transceivers"
I've typed it exactly how it is written. The antenna works great (as far as I know- no complaints, anyway).

So, my question. Is there such a thing as an 'antanna', or is this some kind of defect- possibly even a fake?

Maybe it is a spelling mistake? Would you mind posting a picture of the antenna and the package that the antenna was in?

Search the forum, there's a great list of how to tell a fake diamond from a real one.

Attached are the pictures of the packaging and antenna. Sorry for the lacking picture quality. It was the best I can do. Also, I have looked over that post before, but none of the details shown match my situation.

I'm everywhere Focker!
I just checked mine (which is about 18 months old) and it says the same thing. It was also ordered from HRO. I would speculate it's just a typographical error.

Email Diamond, they're a great group to deal with. I've never had a question go unanswered for long.

Quite a few methods of printing to this kind of packaging, but they all originate from graphic layouts done on Apple (or PC) .... and the layout artist, who works with the word "antenna" day in day out didn't notice, nor did the guy whose job it was to QC sample packaging before been ticked off & approved for usage to pack the product, nor did anyone at the end when serial production commenced and this product started rolling off the line?? Bit odd!

Why would Diamond allow such an easily & cheaply corrected error to go through without correction? Packaging is the cheapest part of the overall product presentation but represents part of their most valuable asset (i.e. their intellectual property and branding).

....... on the other hand, HRO is an authorised Diamond dealer, isn't it (?) i.e. can't see them knowingly selling a counterfeited product with such a market presence. Diamond would have presented HRO with a court order in a flash.

It's going to be interesting to see what Diamond says ......................

Those of you who purchased suspect Diamond antennas from HRO might want to ask HRO a simple question: Are they sourcing their antennas from RF Parts, the U.S. distributor for Diamond antennas, or are they sourcing them from an Asian distributor? If the antennas are coming direct from Asia, they may be knock-offs.

HRO can be fooled too, nobody looks at packaging. Knock-offs can creep in anywhere in the distribution chain. Now why would HRO buy from RF Parts, a competitor?

Just looked at the packaging for the Diamond RH77CA that I bought at least five years ago at Universal Radio in Reynoldsburg Ohio. Same misspelling.

I have had mine for over a year and still have my package. It says antanna too. They may make a fine antenna but they sure aren't going to win any spelling bees.
