COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A motorist died after leading law enforcement officers on a pursuit along Interstate 25 early Friday morning.
A Colorado state trooper spotted a Dodge van at about midnight on I-25 in Colorado Springs that had been reported stolen. The trooper tried to pull the van over, but the driver fled.
At one point, the van drove through "stop sticks" that punctured two tires. Troopers said the driver then rammed another trooper's vehicle from behind.
A pursuit ended south of Pueblo when a trooper used a pursuit intervention technique, called a PIT maneuver, to cause the van to crash. The van went off the road and rolled, ejecting the suspect and killing him at the scene.
