Is there a way to lock onto a specific Favorites List without using the "Hold" button on an SDS200 scanner? Of course, I can turn on and off Favorites Lists through the scanner's keypad, but I haven't found a way to directly lock onto a particular Favorites List through the keypad of the scanner without using the HOLD button.

I can't utilize the "Hold" feature to lock onto a particular Favorites List because I use Proscan to remotely monitor the SDS200, and there is such a latency delay when accessing the scanner via a cell phone that it's difficult to activate the "Hold" feature through Proscan, and end up on the Favorites List I intended to select.

I don't do a whole lot of programming anymore. My radios are all set and we have no changes for a long time. I have used ProScan but I'm no expert.

If I wanted to hold on one favorites list without using the channel button or hold button, I would press the number of each favorites list and then enter until they were all gone and I got the nothing to scan indication, then I would press the number of the favorites list I want to be on and then enter LOL.

Are you talking a "Favorite List" or a specific channel in the favorite list...

The only way I know of is using the "Hold" button... Or as trentbob mentioned above...

Yes there is a delay, but I've never had a problem putting a hold on something thru ProScan...

Yes, I have done that as well, but...you know...as you're mobile, making all those keypad entries is kind of distracting and dangerous. I could pull it off if entering just a couple of Favorites List numerals plus "E", but all that does is turn on/off the Favorites List. But, if there were a simple way to enter a couple of numerals for the Favorites List to lock onto it, that would be ideal. There may be a way to do it, but so far, I haven't found anything in the manual on it. I'm probably missing something because I can't imagine Uniden forgetting to include that feature as part of the firmware.

I was referring to Favorites Lists, which would generally suffice. But, if there's a way to lock onto a channel, that would work fine too, provided I wouldn't have to use the "Hold" button. When using Proscan, if you try using the "Hold" button, unless the transmissions are lengthy enough, the latency is such that if you press the Hold button on the Proscan remote webpage, it locks onto an altogether different Favorites List. The latency delays things so that after pressing hold, the scanner doesn't get the command to hold immediately, and you can almost never actually hold where you intended to hold when using Proscan to control the scanner. It's not probably Proscan's fault, I anticipate it's the latency between the cell network and my internet at the base station where the scanner is located.

Yeah it could possibly be done using quick keys, I'm very familiar with the radios but as I say I don't do a lot of programming anymore and just have a basic understanding of ProScan. It's great..

I'm sure somebody here will come up with an answer for you, good luck.

Be it using ProScan or just the scanner itself... Using the hold button is the only way I see to do that...

Ok. there is a way... You have to asign a tag number to the channel in Sentinel...
You also have to be stopped on the Fav list with the channel button... then you can hit "..#" # being the channel's tag number and then
the channel button again... It will stay on that channel till you hit the channel button again to resume scannig...

Yep, that's what I've found to be the case so far, and it's very frustrating for Proscan users. Maybe Bearcat Joe will see this, and suggest a firmware update to management, or maybe there's a fix through Proscan itself that I'm unaware of..

I'm not sure what can be done on the ProScan Web Server or web page. Do you have a proposed solution?

Maybe use Zillo for the audio as that doesn't have latency then in the web page, set the "Display & Metadata Delay" option to 0 seconds.

Thanks! I'll give that a try. It still looks a little distracting for times I'm driving around mobile due to the number of digits that would still need to be entered to reach a specific channel, not to mention the Favorites Lists, Systems, and Channels you would have to commit to memory, and then also recall while on the go. But, it would be preferable to turning off various Favorites Lists in order to isolate to one Favorites List, if you had an unmanageable number of Favorites Lists turned on. Within Proscan if using the numbers list, then latency doesn't seem like it would be too much of an issue, as my experience has been that the entire sequence can be entered pretty quickly in one operation, and while the latency does still occur, eventually the entire sequence processes through the system, and the scanner would lock onto the channel desired.

Well. . .

That's sort of a trick question. On the SDS scanner itself there isn't a "Hold" button. So there is that.

Then, to do a "jump to a channel via number tag" you have to press "Channel" which for all practical purposes, stops (or holds) scanning, so you can perform the "jump".

The only other option to remain on a given Favorites List is to turn off the Favorites List Quick Keys for all the other Favorites Lists. But as you mention, that is cumbersome even when one is not driving.

Not knowing your scanning environment (as in types of systems), have you considered Priority scanning?

Well, yes there is...

System hold, Department hold and Channel hold...

Even though it does not say Hold...

I'll see your split hair and raise you another

So if you press Channel/Department/System a second time, does it still Hold? Nah, it becomes a resume button.

My point is, there is no "Hold" button, per se.
