Wow! Paging freqs huh? Imagine that. I used to work in paging, got out at the right time I think. I guess we'll have to wait until they hit the database to find out exactly where they are. It makes sense though, some of their channels were already very close to paging freqs. Close enough that I think some scanners will have trouble where paging is still active.

Part 22 is not just paging.

Its also old IMTS and Telco operations.

Hi Folks,

The Part 22 frequencies are being used as the control and data channels for STatewide Agencies Radio System (STARS).

There is a pretty long thread here in the Virginia Forum about it.

The system and its capabilities is quite impressive.

I remember when the FCC finally gave up and opened the old mobile channels for paging back in the late 80s I guess. I helped offload and decomission a couple of IMTS systems. The last one only had 1 working channel when we pulled the plug.

I've monitored the Area 1 system, I can't wait for it to come on-line here, 2008 I've read.
