Typical gov't organization. They often are down over the weekends, and apparently the FCC doesn't do 24/7 on-call for their IT :)

Yeah, I've been trying to query it all day and night myself. I just went to check my bank balance and then pay on a credit card, and neither of those sites were up as well. Looks like everyone is using this weekend for IT maintenance.

Fcc ULS Db down

The FCC ULS (WTB) is down.. Lots of the GovComputerDb's are down. Something about a
cyber crash!!
Have no fear, it will be back up soon..
Cheers,

I'm not too familiar in how things are linked, but how is it I can do a successful lookup of licenses through RR, but when I can't even access the FCC site to search the same information. Anyone know how that works?

Sure. When you enter in a callsign from within the RR Database, it queries local information that was downloaded from the FCC previously. I believe Lindsay said that the goal was for it to be updated daily, but I'm not sure that is happening yet. Historically, that data has been pulled down from the FCC periodically.

So, when you click on a callsign somewhere in the DB, that information is coming from RR servers and not querying the FCC direct. It is indeed FCC data though.... only presented differently.

FCC Data Last Updated On: 01-03-2011 16:37

The FCC data in the RR database is no more than three weeks old at this time.

The information downloaded from the FCC and stored on RR is not used to populate the frequency listings in the actual RR DB though -- that's all done by user submissions and manual addition by an admin.

That makes perfect sense, I guess I dismissed the idea because that's a lotttt of data. Thanks for the explaination.
