Here is what I have confirmed for simulcast:

FDNY Citywide - 482.23125 PL- 85.4

FDNY Brooklyn - 482.01875 PL- 69.3

FDNY Bronx - 482.00625 PL- 67.0

FDNY Manhattan - 482.10625 PL- 74.4

FDNY Queens - 482.03125 PL- 71.9

I have not heard Staten Island yet, even on the Bronx Simulcast Frequency...

So if someone can confirm the frequency, please update.....

My scanner only has 4 decimal places. I entered them as above and this is what my scanner translated them to. I seem to be hearing everything correctly with the exception of a bit of static on 482.1000 like something is a bit off. Is FDNY using these freq's full time now? I get much better reception on the UHF's. Can I remove the VHF's now?

482.23125 = 482.2250
482.01875 = 482.0125
482.00625 = 482.0000
482.10625 = 482.1000
482.03125 = 482.0250

looks like SI is going to be on 482.04375/77.0, maybe they will turn on the SI simulcast today

I would wait awile before removing the VHF freqs since they might turn the UHF simulcast on & off
the UHF is 100% all channels in union county n,j now i can hear the Bronx all the time

Anyone known why UHF Citywide has been keyed up nonstop for two days now

Thanks to all for info on FDNY new frequencies. For those who have tried it, the reception seems as good or better than VHF from what I read.

I have tried to listen to this system, and hear nothing. I'm located in Southeast Sussex County, NJ.

I have this system programmed in my XTS3000 and hear everything very good. I was even able to pick it up on portable while traveling in New Jersey on RT80 towards PA until about exit 36! Sorry I forgot what exit that is...

UHF is a lot better in union county then the VHF was not able to receive the bronx or citywide unless condition were good, UHF is 100% full signal on PRO197 S-meter on all six channels

Only boro not active on UHF is Staten Island only about 3 miles away from me, so i guess they are not simulcasting yet

EJM, UHF is needs line of sight unlike VHF which is better in hilly areas you have to try moving your antenna around to different locations pick the new channels

Route Exit 36 is Rockaway Twp Area about 28 miles from NYC

Beonx fire radio 5x5 in south Brooklyn, on the old system BX was not that grat

as of today SI is not on the air as of yet

i wonder if the units will use portables to get runs like when they are shopping for food or still use the driver of the unit to monitor the radio

Almost guaranteed that portable radios with dept frequencies will NOT be issued to engines and trucks. when shopping officer stays to monitor rig radio (and guard the rig) while ff's go shopping. on building inspection chauffeur stays on rig while officer and ff's conduct inspection.

FDNY Dispatch and Ops will not be digital

There seems to be a bit of confusion floating around. Certain branches of the FDNY (mainly Fire Marshals and Fire Prevention I think) are going to use the new trunked system. All other communications will be strictly UHF. There has been no discussions that I'm aware of about the portables that the firefighters carry will be changing. They will remain the same as they are now and will not get the dispatch frequencies put into them.

There are no UHF radio's installed on the engines or ladders to this point. I think FrankRaffa mentioned it in an earlier post but the system is not in place yet and they are still testing things out. Once they iron out all of their kinks and get base stations installed, they will probably begin installing the UHF's slowly. There was a rumor that SI was going to be the 1st to switch but that was a long time ago. Hope that clears a few things up.

Mike just remember our Tac channels are not on repeaters, so you will only hear them from a few blocks away. The only exception would be in Midtown if we get a hi-rise fire, then you might hear members on upper floors from a distance.

I apologize if this was asked earlier somewhere, but how do I program the new FDNY frequencies into a PSR-500? My scanner will not accept the new frequencies. For example it changes Manhattan on 482.10625 to 482.100.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Press Func+PGM, than scroll down to FLEX STEP and turn it ON. Save the settings.
Now you can program 6.25 channels on the PSR-500
