I've been tracking a few new freqs. in the 396 scanner and had an idea.

It's simple in theory.

ALARM + HOLD

When the scanner stops on a channel with an ALARM + HOLD active, the scanner will simply automatically drop out of SCAN mode into HOLD mode for further monitoring of the channel.

So, for example, if you're out of the room or in your car and hear an alarm and it's an ALARM + HOLD channel, you don't have to race to attend the scanner. Probably have it play the chosen alarm every 30 seconds to alert the user it's on Alarm + Hold.

What say y'all?

All the best,

Of course I meant:

ALERT + HOLD

You probably figured that out.

Right?

I think it is a great idea but I really doubt Uniden would actually put this into any firmware updates. Look how often Close Call Do Not Disturb (CC DND) has been asked for with out any acknowledgement at all. At least they could say whether it was possible as a firmware update or not.

I get the feeling that the ALERT + HOLD (A+H) could be put in as a firmware modification. Although the BCD396T is in my opinion one of the best and most advanced radio scanners in the world, it also has so much more potential that I fear, will never be reached.

I don't think its that big of a feature like CC DND that they would have a problem just throwing it in.

I love it!

This would make up for the lack of a priority feature on TGIDs.

Here's the thing though; if Uniden cannot/will not implement such a feature, I am sure it can be done in software. Butel?
