During the last recent Winter event, ARDOT road treating/snow removal traffic was heard on 156.0625 MHz in Benton County for District 9, tonight this is true again. But don't set your PL to only 107.2 (as seen in the database) unless you want to program this frequency in your scanner 3 times. I say this because I had my scanner in PL search mode and I heard traffic on this repeater frequency using different PL's at times - 107.2, 110.9 and 114.8. Today I also heard traffic where two mobile units were conversing on 156.0625 MHz. But both mobile units were not initially using the same repeater location. The mobile on the Cave Springs repeater location (for Benton County) was asked to change over to another repeater location on the same frequency (for a better copy) and refered to it as Gaither (which most likely means Gaither Mountain). My received signal strength for the Cave Springs repeater was full scale and only about half of that then for the Gaither Mountain repeater location. I remember when I used to hear Washington County ARDOT traffic on 151.085 MHz.

I have been hearing (Searcy - Floyd tower) ASP Troop B in Newport talking to "Truck 1" & "Truck 2" about secondary road conditions.

ASP B-1 giving orders for "2" to go Hwy 69 to Batesville, down Hwy 167 to Pleasant Plains and across Hwy 157 / Blackland Rd. to Oil Trough and Hwy 14 back to Newport.' I'm assuming this is AHTD plow/sand truck out of Newport.

During last year's bad weather I heard a good bit of ASP/National Guard traffic.

Not a peep on AHTD VHF conventional radios.

Yesterday (Thursday 2/3/2022) I heard a bit of voice traffic on ARDOT District 8's frequency of 151.055 MHz (DCS 411) here in Russellville, but not much. One was "Can you open the gate for me?" and the other was "Hey just checking on you, (name), you doing ok?". It could be there were other transmissions that I missed because of traffic on other channels. ASP Troop A was extremely busy yesterday, as were local county SOs.

No, pretty sure that was ANG guys running trucks to help pull people out of the ditch if they come across any. So I was told. This is pretty common during wintry weather events.

ASP can’t give orders to ARDOT beyond making a simple request.

All ANG traffic I heard last year was on either on their talk groups or a MAC channel with each unit having a call sign.

I wonder how many Hummers ASP has.

No idea. Here in Troop B in the past the guard guys were on dispatch giving updates about vehicles they were helping. Or that’s what I remember. This time I guess it was actually troopers.

I’ll hafta go back & get radio ID’s to associate them with the Hummers. Each trooper has two Radio ID’s - one for their handheld & one for their mobile. Game wardens too from what I’ve gathered.
Handhelds seem to have a different numbering series than the mobiles.

LOTS of activity on ARDOT Region 8, 151.055 MHz in Russellville today. The VHF frequencies are certainly not dead here!
