Dozens of employees were sent home from the Denver Federal Center Friday morning after a substance leaked from a pumping station.
West Metro Fire and Rescue says a 32 percent hydrogen peroxide substance used to treat the water at the facility began leaking from a pump station early Friday morning. As a result, officials evacuated between four and five buildings located at 6th Street and North Center Avenue.
As officials continued responding, about 200 employees were sent home for the day. The facility's HVAC system has been shut down and there have been no reports of exposure or injuries.
Officials say it is unclear at this time what caused the leak.
