Hello,

I'm looking for a program that will record an online scanner broadcast that is VOX activated. All scanner recorded programs I've found record from the sound card input and wont record audio from the internet.

Anyone have any info???

Thanks

I have used Xcorder to record feeds off the internet. I used to use it to record driver feeds from nascar.com during a race.

To record from the internet you'll need to set your sound cards options to record from the computer and not a line in.

Open your volume control panel (usually in the system tray, but you can get to it in your control panel)

Select Options --> Properties

In the adjust volume box you need to select "Recording"

Click Ok

Check the box under "Wave" (this is the computer itself not the input lines)

This may vary a little from computer to computer, so you may need to play around with it.

You might have to check the box for wave in order for it to appear in the record properties.

Fireguy, if wav doesn't appear, then checking the mic box will work fine. I have to use that for my laptop and it doesn't record any background audio as there is no activated microphone on this computer.

I couldn't get any of the free softwares to work. I bought some software called Total Recorder from a company called High Criteria. In my opinion, it was worth the $35. It gives you the option of saving as MP3 or WAV, along with quality settingts, etc. I use it on my computer here at the house and haven't had any problems as of yet.

This does what you want
Streamripper home page:

(I'd love to find a way to block people from acutally using this program on my feeds)

why would you want to block it? the biggest reasons I can think of for using this are for recording major events, and for recording while you're not at the computer....same as the reasons for recording from your home scanner....doesnt seem like it would take away any integrity from your feed....just my opinion though.

I know this is an old thread, but I have to admit this is a darn cool way to record online scanner feeds so you don't run in to a file with a ton of dead space.

I'm just confirming that this defiantly does work on XP Home SP2.
